Credit the skills of Bruiser, and good work Tricia and Todd for the Video. I think it’s great!

Notice that Bruiser looks and locates the ball only a moment before the catch.  Amazing.

Is this 1976 Committee Report the Latest Government Word on High Fructose Corn Syrup?

Select Committee on GRAS Substances (SCOGS) Opinion: Corn Syrup

http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodIngredientsPackaging/GenerallyRecognizedasSafeGRAS/GRASSubstancesSCOGSDatabase/ucm261264.htm

Corn Syrup

  • SCOGS-Report Number: 50*
  • Type Of Conclusion: 2
  • ID Code: 8029-43-4
  • Year: 1976
  • 21 CFR Section: 184.1865

SCOGS Opinion:

Fructose-dextrose mixtures have been observed to have hyperlipemic effects when fed at high levels in fat-free diets to adult males and postmenopausal women. There is no evidence, however, that the levels of invert sugar and high-fructose corn syrup in the average diet cause significant elevations in blood lipids and it is unlikely that the consumption of fructose or glucose, ingested as monosaccharides, has a role in coronary heart disease.

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS CRAP?  “GRAS” is the FDA designation that means something like high fructose corn syrup is “generally regarded as safe.”  Unlike Dextrose (Glucose) which is metabolized in every cell of our bodies, this High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is only metabolized in the liver, possibly because HFCS does not cause a release of insulin.  The process of de novo lipogenesis converts HFCS to fat and it is stored as glycogen in our liver and on our waistline, causing obesity and hyperlipidemia.  HFCS is metabolized into LDL cholesterol (mostly v-LDL the small dense worst LDL Cholesterol).   HFCS, when metabolized in the liver, creates uric acid as a waste product, which causes gout as well as causing high blood pressure because uric acid suppresses the production of endothelial nitric oxide synthase which is needed to create nitric oxide (“NO”) that would ordinarily properly dilate our blood vessels.  So, instead of NO acting as a vascular dilator, our blood vessels unduly constrict.  Without the “NO” production, there is a substantial risk of elevated blood pressure.

So, if you are addicted to Mountain Dew or Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola or any other sugary soft drinks or fruit drinks containing HFCS, and if you drink around a six pack of cans a day, then you are likely to: (1) be obese, (2) have high blood pressure, and (3) have high levels v-LDL cholesterol in your blood stream, and (4) have elevated triglycerides in your blood stream.  Items (2) through (4) create a substantial risk of developing coronary artery disease.

Additionally, HFCS is likely the cause of insulin resistance and leptin resistance.  Those who are addicted to the HFCS in soft drinks are always hungry because there is no leptin feedback from the leptin receptors in the hypothalamus region of their brain. This missing feedback would have been (1) you are satiated (your hunger is satisfied), (2) a bump-up in your metabolic rate, and (3) a reduction in the storage of additional fats which cause our obesity.  That good feedback doesn’t happen when we are leptin resistant!

Does the FDA have your best interests at heart?

And don’t switch to Diet Drinks containing Aspartame (“aspartic acid” – marketed under the name of Nutri-Sweet, Equal, and Crystal Lite). And avoid MSG’s.  Aspartame and MSG’s are excitotoxins that kill brain cells and cause neurological problems and dementia.  If you are guzzling Crystal Lite, then beware of neuroligical issues and even possible bladder disfunction.

DRINK PURIFIED WATER.
